Symplicity Recruit Spotlight: Gaby Bradley

Finding the ideal candidate for a job is not an easy task. It involves hours of searching, sourcing, and interviewing applicants in the hopes of establishing a professional connection. Symplicity has been nurturing relationships with universities and career centers for decades to help students search for opportunities that get them a little closer to their career goals.

In our new series, Symplicity Recruit Spotlight, we introduce you to the Recruit team and shine the spotlight on some of our most valued Sympers.

In our first installment, we chat with Gaby Bradley, our newest colleague. Hailing from Utah, Gaby supports Recruit as a Sales Account Executive with charisma, passion, and an eagerness to go above and beyond for our clients.

Tell us a little bit about your history in sales

I love connecting with people and I was really good at building relationships on the operations side. At my previous job, I did a lot of work building up accounts and, the more accounts I got, the more they would grow. I realized this was something fun and I enjoyed helping people find what they needed. I educated myself a lot on what I needed to know and I focused on the psychology of selling. A lot of it has to do with building up value for people in a way that allows them to have what they want based on what you have to offer. I got into sales because it kind of happened that way and I realized I was kind of good at it. For me, sales has been a place where you get to wear a lot of hats and you get to grow in the way that you want to. It’s what you put into it. That’s how I got into sales because it became an opportunity.

What brought you to join Symplicity and expand your career by going into edtech?

I prioritize a few things when I’m open to a new position: how the people are treated, whether employees feel supported, and how long everyone stays at the company, because then you know you’re going into a company that values the people, and not just the job. At Symplicity, the more I met with employees, the more I realized that there were a lot of resources and value being put into an employee’s ability to perform in a way that helped them grow. That was important to me.

Is there anything, in particular, that got you interested in higher education?

I had worked with higher ed before and I loved the way people were. It’s very connected and it’s very colleague-driven. Because I had an understanding of how that culture worked, I felt Symplicity would be along the right route for me.

What do you think are the biggest pain points for clients in their search for early talent?

It comes down to not understanding the true benefits of having access to students. The pain point I see when clients are new to their search for early talent is that, oftentimes, they don’t have enough of the right candidate. Their candidate is being grabbed before they even graduate and now they have to fight for whoever is still on the market at the time of their search. Employers want to be ahead of the curve. Clients are planning for the future and they’re eager to find candidates before they graduate without extensive onboarding.

What’s your favorite feature within Recruit?

Global Search. The biggest highlight of Global Search is that the client can utilize keywords to find applicants with specific backgrounds, like volunteer experience or someone with an entrepreneurial mindset. Clients can narrow down applicants to a group that truly meets their timeline goals. That’s been an important feature that every client I’ve talked to has been extremely excited about in terms of what Recruit can do for them.

Is there a feature you don’t think clients are using enough on Recruit?

I don’t think clients utilize our Campaigns feature enough. We can give clients a great toolset and jumpstart their search. With Campaigns, clients can give us specific criteria, and basically set it and forget it. We can find candidates for them. This is especially important for small teams with an urgent need for talent. Those teams can lean on us so that they have enough bandwidth to focus on other aspects of their jobs.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I’m into camping right now because we’re in the middle of summer. I love going to the lake and taking my dogs out for hikes. I’m a big dancer. I just got back into it. I love to keep busy and take walks on my lunch breaks while listening to more books on Audible.
